The Del Mar Community Connections Volunteer Program strives to enrich the lives of our maturing and special needs population by providing activities, services and programs to help them remain living in the homes they love.

A team of dedicated volunteers from all walks of life assist DMCC to meet the needs of these folks. Working in full partnership with DMCC staff, these volunteers provide extra services that enhance the quality of life for residents. YOU can be a member of that team! Sign up today!

Bus Host

Accompany the shuttle bus grocery shopping; assist clients with shopping; help carry groceries.  

Volunteer Driver

Drive clients to medical appointments; drivers are reimbursed for mileage at the current IRS rate.  

Flex Pool Volunteer

Become part of the group of volunteers known as the “Flex Pool”.  These volunteers gather when needed to help stuff, label and stamp envelopes; assist at special events registering/checking in participants, set up for or clean up after events; make “telephone tree” reminder calls to participants.  

Office Help

Staff the office so that Director may attend training and meetings; update the website calendar; work on monthly enewsletter; write thank you letters to donors; update office activity bulletin boards; assist with recycle programs, maintain volunteer database, run errands.  

Social Services

Coordinate decorations (table, wall and ceiling) with the event coordinator and schedule meetings with other craft volunteers to help make decorations.  Update DMCC Publicity scrapbook.  Play a musical instrument, sing, dance, give a talk or teach a class about your favorite pastime or hobby (cooking, knitting, fitness, crafts – the sky’s the limit!).  

Community Outreach

Staff Farmer’s Market Booth and provide information about DMCC activities and programs at the weekly Farmer’s Market; collect recyclables such as toner cartridges and cell phones.  Make presentations about DMCC at various neighborhood meetings as part of our Senior Living Options Program.  

Fundraising

Generate ideas for ways to produce income for DMCC; event planning; contact various businesses for sponsorship or underwriting opportunities; plan and coordinate event decorations or catering.  

Graphic Artist

Turn marketing ideas into visual presentations by creating promotional materials for our special events, programs and ongoing activities.  

Marketing

Create materials promoting DMCC activities, such as press releases, brochures, flyers, PowerPoint presentations, articles for the newsletter.  Lend your skills in photography. 

Grant Researcher/Writer

Research grant opportunities and apply for them.  

Teach a Class

What’s your passion? From bird watching to  baking, we bet there are others that want to know how to do that, too!
