Brain Fitness
a 40-hour computer-based program developed by Posit Science ­ scientifically proven to improve memory, speed up thinking and sharpen focus. No previous computer experience is required. Participants must commit to complete the full 40-hour program. Call DMCC office to be placed on the waiting list. Your brain will thank you!Prior to signing up for Brain Fitness, please watch the Brain Fitness Class orientation on video, which is approximately 25 minutes long.  Click the white arrow BELOW to view the video.

 

The DMCC Brain Fitness Program is funded by a grant from the office of San Diego County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price and is offered in partnership with the Del Mar Foundation and Briggs & Briggs LLC.

Bridge
Party bridge played every Wednesday downstairs at the Powerhouse Community Center; no partner necessary.

Bus Excursions
DMCC provides group rides to local events which include museums, movies, theatre, concerts and other special events. See DMCC Calendar for current trips.

Cardio & Strength Training
consists of 20 minutes of aerobics, appropriate to the ability of the class participants; 20 minutes of weight bearing exercise; and 20 minutes of stretching. Three classes offered; one class is a chair class. Minimum age is 55 years. Classes offered through San Dieguito Adult Education. 760-753-7073 or www.sdadulted.com.

Computer Tutoring
is available every Monday for seniors who are learning to use the computer or those wanting to brush up on their skills. Classes held at the Solana Beach Senior Center, 120 Stevens Ave., Solana Beach; Computer Lab, Room 108. WebAdapt technology is available for those with vision problems.

Knit & Stitch
Bring your own project and share an idea with others at the Del Mar Library. Meets the first Thursday of each month.  Call Regina Horner for details; 858-755-1931.

Life Story Writing

The Lunch Club
The Lunch Club provides a healthy, affordable meal in a group outing at a local restaurant once a month. This popular event grants our residents the opportunity to make new friends and also try out new restaurants in our small village. Come join the fun!

Mah Jongg
Weekly Mah Jongg games offered every Wednesday upstairs at the Powerhouse. New players always welcome! Prior experience required. Contact June Strasberg for referral to learn or for more information.

Senior Health Forum
Join Dr. Mark Kalina for his popular interactive discussions designed to empower participants to experience a higher level of health and well-being. New topic weekly; meets Tuesdays at the Del Mar TV Studio, 240 Tenth St.

Silver Age Yoga
This unique program benefits many people on different levels. Seniors get weekly, health enhancing and life enriching yoga practices. Work in chairs or on the floor. Bring your own mat. Classes held at St. Peter's Parish Hall on Fridays.  Silver Age Yoga is funded in part by the Del Mar Foundation.”
