We Can Provide Wheels
Having a medical procedure that won't allow you to drive home? Need help taking your pet to the vet? Are you in a cast or wheelchair and can't operate a vehicle? Do you no longer drive? Del Mar Community Connections offers services to seniors and other Del Mar City residents who have limited mobility.
The DMCC Grocery Shuttle Service
transports City of Del Mar residents from their homes twice a week from 9 am to 1 pm. Wednesdays, the shuttle alternates between Henry's Market in Solana Beach and Trader Joes in Encinitas. Thursdays, the bus goes to Ralphs in Del Mar Highland and Vons on Mango. The bus will pick up passengers at their homes and our cheerful bus host will help carry purchases to your front door. Registration in the program is required. $5 suggested donation per trip.
Dial a Ride Taxi Vouchers
are available to City of Del Mar residents who are 62 or older and/or disabled. Coupon books with vouchers for taxi rides are sold for $5 at the DMCC office. Each book is good for $20 worth of rides. Eligible riders can buy up to four coupon books per month.
Rides to Medical Appointments
utilizes DMCC volunteers, using their own cars, to drive City of Del Mar residents to medical appointments. There is no fee, but riders are expected to cover any transportation expenses such as parking or toll fees. The driver will be reimbursed for mileage by Del Mar Community Connections. Please provide a week's advance request to reserve a ride. Rides depend upon availability of drivers.
DMCC provides group rides to local events which include museums, movies, theatre, concerts and other special events. See DMCC Calendar for current trips.
